Why We Don’t Do "Standard" Routes: A Note from Eva & Óskar
When you book a dirt bike or snowbike trip in Iceland, you might expect a standard "follow the leader" tour, staying in a single-file line on a pre-set path. But after years of guiding for the big tour companies, we realized that the "standard route" often gets in the way of a great story.
That’s why we started Arctic Trailblazers. We wanted to create something deeply personal and more flexible for our guests. Honestly, we wanted to build something that would give us a reason to wake up every morning with a big grin on our faces, genuinely excited for the day ahead and the trails we get to share with you.
The Art of the Custom Trail in a Multi Day Experience
The true magic of what we do reveals itself when you book more than a single day with us. That’s when the trip stops being a "tour" and becomes a fully customized expedition. We like to say that on a multi-day experince, the first day is your audition. We use those initial hours on the bikes to get to know you: your technical skills, your stamina, and what we call your "smile factor." Once we see how you ride, we throw the standard map out the window and tailor the rest of the trip to you.
How We Customize Your Days
Because we are a boutique, private operation, we have the luxury of pivoting on a dime. Here is how we build your itinerary as we go:
Adaptive Difficulty: If Day 1 shows us you’re a technical wizard, we’ll head for the challenging black lava fields or steep climbs on Day 2. If you’re here for a relaxed, joyful flow, we’ll find those sweeping, scenic trails that keep the thrill manageable and the views spectacular.
The Weather Pivot: Iceland’s weather is famous for its mood swings. Since we aren't tethered to one base, we can load the bikes onto our trailers and move the entire operation to a different part of the island where the sun is actually shining. We go where the conditions are best.
Your Pace, Your Way: If you want to spend an hour photographing a vocanic crater we wait. If you want to skip the breaks and burn through a full tank of fuel, we ride. Because it’s a private adventure, you dictate the tempo.
Our "Roam Free" Philosophy
One thing we do differently is that we don’t include accommodation in our bookings. We chose this "nomadic" style for a reason: it keeps us agile. We don't want to force you to stay in a specific hotel just because we have a contract there.
Instead, you choose the level of luxury you want. Whether that’s a high-end boutique hotel or a remote mountain lodge and we focus on providing the world-class gear, the bikes, and the expert local knowledge. Don't worry, though, we are always happy to guide you toward the best places to stay that fit perfectly with the riding plan we’ve built for you.
